Donating Food

All programs at the Depot are governed by our Healthy Food Policy, which promotes the use of fresh and whole foods — often those that are the hardest to come by on a limited budget.

To ensure we get the most use out of your donation, please focus on our priority foods, which make up the core of our emergency food baskets and community meals:

  • Beans and lentils
All types, either canned or dry
  • Canned fish
    Tuna, salmon, sardines, etc.
  • Canned tomatoes
Including whole, crushed, or tomato sauce, but not tomato soup or ketchup.
  • Pasta
    Especially whole grain varieties
  • Rice
    Especially brown rice
  • Other whole grains
    Barley, couscous, oats, quinoa, etc.

If you have other foods to donate, don’t worry, they will find their way into the “extras” category of our food baskets or be transformed into a delicious meal by our endlessly creative cooks. That said, please note that we are unfortunately unable to accept donations of opened or expired food.

Thank you for supporting access to good food in your community!
