Boîte à Lunch
Interested in becoming a volunteer facilitator in our cooking and nutrition workshops for children or teens? We are looking for volunteers who can come regularly (once a week) to cook with our participants and facilitators. It is a fun and rewarding experience!
Boîte à Lunch is an edible education program designed to engage NDG youth in preparing healthy, delicious meals. We offer an after-school workshop program for elementary students in grades 4 and 5 (ages 9 to 11) as well as for teens in high school.
My Healthy Family
We are looking for volunteers to support our team of animators during My Healthy Family: a hands-on workshop series for parents – kids are welcome too! The workshop series will take place at different locations, such as the Depot and schools in NDG. It is a great space for parents to learn about healthy nutrition, tips for picky eaters, and recipes and lunchbox ideas. Volunteers help facilitate the workshops and assists with tasks (preparing snacks/foods, clean-up).
Skills desired: bilingual in French/English, ability to facilitate comfortably, facilitation experience with youths, interest and knowledge in healthy eating/nutrition and capacity to transmit this knowledge to participants.
Intergenerational meals are held at different subsidized senior homes in NDG. Recipes are prepared with residents and other community participants. Together, everyone enjoys the meal while conversing and learning about healthy nutrition. The volunteer is expected to socialize with participants, help with tasks (including preparation and clean-up of meal), and share the meals with others. This is a family-friendly event and children are welcome to attend with their guardian.
Skills desired: Good interpersonal skills in French and/or English, comfort or interest in cooking.
