Greeters welcome participants as they come in for meals and food baskets, ensure a smooth flow between the waiting area and registration stations, and provide information about resources and events.
Required skills: Bilingual English and French, comfortable dealing with the public, ability to stand for 2-3 hours at a time.
Shifts needed: Tuesdays 4:30pm-7pm
Intake volunteers are responsible for processing participants’ information during service hours. They are responsible for verifying participants’ eligibility for food baskets and registering them in our database.
Required skills: bilingual English and French, basic computer skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
Shifts needed: Fridays 9:45am-12pm or 12pm-2pm
Intake Food Skills Programming – Summer 2019
The Depot is looking for volunteers to help in its various cooking activities this summer. Activities include:
-our popular smoothie, salad and sushi activities in day camps
-preparation of meals and snacks for NDG campers
-picnics with families in NDG parks
Required skills: must enjoy working with children
Activities in day camps: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays – morning to early afternoon (variable)
Preparation of snacks: Monday and Wednesday from 4pm-7pm
Picnic: Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-7:30pm
Home delivery volunteers deliver groceries to participants who cannot come to the Depot to pick up a food basket themselves.
Desired skills: must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license, reasonable physical mobility, interpersonal skills.
Shifts needed: every 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 12:30-4pm.
