Join Our Board
Are you passionate about food insecurity and food justice?
We are not currently recruiting new members for our Board of Directors.
Please check back in mid-January or early February to see if any openings are available. The recruitment process typically runs until March 31, with elections held at our Annual General Meeting in June.
Board members bring their lived experience, skills, and commitment to building a more equitable food system. Depending on organizational needs, we may also seek specific expertise in areas such as government relations, fundraising, finance, or governance.
Board members serve up to three 2-year terms and contribute about 5–10 hours per month, depending on priorities and committee involvement. The Board meets 6–8 times per year.
Requirements
- Be a member of The Depot between April 1 and March 31
- Be 18 years or older
- Be able to serve a 2-year term and actively participate in meetings
Expertise That We’re Looking For
- Non-profit management
- Information technology & cybersecurity
- Public relations
- Government relations
We want our leadership to reflect the diversity and lived experiences of the communities we serve. We especially encourage applications from people:
- From diverse backgrounds, cultural communities, and age groups
- With lived experience of food insecurity, poverty, or oppression
- With knowledge of NDG and surrounding areas
- Interested in anti-oppression and anti-racism work
- New to board participation

How to Apply
Deadline: March 31, 2026
- Review our Duties of the Board (it’s not as complicated as it sounds!)
- Send a short letter describing your interest and what you would bring to the Board — and include your CV if possible — to Natalie at communications@depotmtl.org
- Selected candidates will be invited to a brief interview with our nominations committee.
- Elections will take place at our Annual General Meeting on June 18.
