Volunteers are a vital resource here at The Depot.
Many of you are reaching out to ask how you can help during this turbulent time. Thank you for thinking of us!
The outpouring of support we have received from the community has been overwhelming and we are so grateful to everyone who has taken the time to get in touch. However, we are keeping our team very small for safety reasons and aren’t actively recruiting at the moment. Check this page often – we’d love for you to join us once things settle down! Every day, our dedicated volunteers play a key role in helping us to address hunger and food insecurity in our community in a manner that prioritizes dignity, community engagement, and the development of human potential. Most of our programs rely on volunteers, including food basket production, distribution, and delivery; community meal preparation; cooking workshops with seniors and youth; reception and communications tasks; and occasional special events.
The Depot staff are committed to providing all volunteers with role-specific training and ongoing support to fulfill the roles to which they are assigned. Our volunteers tell us they have learned new skills, built friendships, strengthened their ties to the local community, and feel satisfied that they’ve helped to bring about positive change.
Our volunteers give their time for 2-3 hours once per week. Although there are certain events that call for one-time or occasional volunteers, the nature of our programming means that most positions involve a commitment of at least a few months or more. Reliable volunteers who want to make a difference are a welcome addition to our dynamic team!
Thanks for your interest in supporting Good Food for All!
How to Get Involved
All of our volunteer opportunities are currently full. However, you can fill out our online application form in order to be added to our volunteering waitlist.
During periods of active volunteer recruitment, once we receive your volunteer application form, you will receive an invitation to a Volunteer Information Session. The first step towards becoming a Depot volunteer, information sessions provide you with the opportunity to learn more about the variety of volunteer roles available at The Depot, our current program needs, and volunteer protocol. This process normally takes at least a few weeks as we only have a certain number of spots available at any given time.
Students can help distribute flyers for The Depot’s upcoming annual Fund Drive (December 2020). If you have hours to complete and would like to help with this activity, please email Gavin Musgrave, volunteer coordinator at The Depot. In your email please include your name, contact info, your age and number of hours to complete and the date you need to complete them by and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
