Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital resource here at The Depot

Every day, our dedicated volunteers play a key role in helping us to address hunger and food insecurity in our community in a manner that prioritizes dignity, community engagement, and the development of human potential. Most of our programs rely on volunteers, including food basket production, distribution, and delivery; community meal preparation; cooking workshops with seniors and youth; reception and communications tasks; and occasional special events.

The Depot staff are committed to providing all volunteers with role-specific training and ongoing support to fulfill the roles to which they are assigned. Our volunteers tell us they have learned new skills, built friendships, strengthened their ties to the local community, and feel satisfied that they’ve helped to bring about positive change.

Our volunteers give their time for 2-3 hours once per week. Although there are certain events that call for one-time or occasional volunteers, the nature of our programming means that most positions involve a commitment of at least a few months or more. Reliable volunteers who want to make a difference are a welcome addition to our dynamic team!

Thanks for your interest in supporting Good Food for All!

We are currently seeking volunteers for our Boite à Lunch workshops.  The workshops will begin on September 30th, so if you’re interested, please complete the form below

Volunteer for Boîte à Lunch workshops

Boîte à lunch workshops are a cooking and educational program focused on nutrition and healthy eating that aims to improve the food security of children, teens, and their families in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and the surrounding area! As part of this project, students in elementary and high school participate in after-school cooking and nutrition workshops in partnership with NDG schools and community centers.

Become a workshop volunteer! Volunteers help ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming atmosphere during the workshops. They also help to ensure that the workshops run smoothly by setting up, cleaning up, and sharing knowledge with the participants.

Please note that a minimum 5-week commitment is required to volunteer for the Boîte à Lunch program

How to Get Involved

During periods of active volunteer recruitment, once we receive your volunteer application form, you will receive an invitation to a Volunteer Information Session. The first step towards becoming a Depot volunteer is, information sessions provide you with the opportunity to learn more about the variety of volunteer roles available at The Depot, our current program needs, and volunteer protocol. This process normally takes at least a few weeks as we only have a certain number of spots available at any given time.
